Alexander Stephens – Vice President of the Confederacy, signed slip, 4.75 x 2.5, adding his office “MC of Ga” (Congressman of Georgia) and where I was given “National Hotel/Washington D.C./ 2 Feb 1881.” Slight toning with mounting remnants on the blank reverse but an excellent clean example. This is a nice reminder of how even Confederate leaders became popular objects during the booming post-war autograph craze.
