Apollo 15 – matching set of signed portraits to the wife of NASA Administrator.
A superb trio of individually inscribed and signed portraits from the Apollo 15 crew. These were presented to Fay Fletcher, wife of NASA Administrator James Fletcher. Each 8 x 10 print is mounted into a window cut mat board measuring 10 x 12. The images, at sight are 7 1/4 x 9 ¼. Each portrait is boldly inscribed in black ink:
"To Mrs. James Fletcher with warm personal regards Dave Scott"
"To Mrs. James Fletcher with my warmest personal regards Jim Irwin Apollo15"
"To Mrs. James Fletcher with warmest regards and many thanks for your friendship and support Al Worden"
Both Scott and Irwin walked on the moon and are scarcer than most of the other moonwalkers. Irwin was the first of the 12 walkers to die and Scott remained an elusive signer for many years.
The matching format, strong inscriptions, and association with a leader of NASA make this set an outstanding relic of the Apollo program and early space program.
