Gardner, Erle Stanley (Perry Mason novels)
Erle Stanley Gardner – attorney and author, best-known for detective novels and the Perry Mason series. Signed letter, June 26, 1940 on his personal letterhead with an engraving of cactus trees. Concluding with a flourishing large full signature the author describes his routine and life as a writer. “I like to get out, mingle around, meet people, gather material for stories, then dash back to my hermitage, work day and night for a while, getting stories on paper, and start out in search of other adventures. …if I really knew what I was going to be doing in ten days in advance, I’d change my plans so not to get into a rut.”
Condition. There are some minor condition issues at the margins, some chips and stains at right margin and some spots – on the right and bottom but still an appealing letter with some interesting self-commentary from an author not regularly seen in the autograph market.
