Glenn, John

$200.00

John Glenn – Signed letter as Senator-elect.

The first American to orbit earth moved from space to politics. In this letter of December 11, 1974 the Senator-elect signs a letter to New York Governor-elect Hugh Carey recommending David Sweet for a position in the Governor’s new administration.

This is a nice early example of the American hero’s early days in politics. Glenn was one of the original 7 Mercury Astronauts. He would later run for president and returned to space travel with a flight on the Discovery shuttle.

Condition: A circle is drawn around the constituent’s name in the text, certainly as a reference mark to route Glenn’s letter with the candidate’s application or file. There are some irrelevant staple holes in the upper corner and a checkmark on a blank margin. Glenn’s bold and clean in blue ink.

A fine example of Glenn’s post-NASA legacy, with strong association to two prominent political figures.
