Jim Irwin – A striking and ideal display color NASA publicity photo of Irwin saluting the Flag at Hadley base on the moon. The image bears a pre-printed inscription "His Love From the Moon” but is personally signed "Jim Irwin" and inscribed “Julie". Irwin was deeply religious and his oft written “His Love From the Moon” reflects that personal side of the space pioneer. Irwin was a responsive signer for collectors but for several years used the partially pre-printed inscriptions to streamline the process while also being responsive to autograph requests. Irwin was the first of the 12 moonwalkers to die, making his signature somewhat scarcer than most of the others.
The 8 x 10 color print is in fine condition. It is a nice souvenir of the early space program and an interesting example of how celebrities dealt with autograph requests.
