Rockefeller represented the Eastern Establishment wing of the Party, making a run for the presidential nomination in several elections. He was ultimately chosen by Gerald Ford to be Vice-President, to fill the vacancy created by his own succession to the presidency. Ford and Rockefeller are to date the only two people to fill vacancies in that office under the 25th Amendment.
