George Bernard Shaw. An unusual specimen of multiple signatures by the Irish playwright, Nobel laureate for literature. He signed “G. Bernard Shaw” 10 times on a stiff paper, approximately 1.75 x 3.25. The back of the card identifies this as a tax form to be filed monthly. Different ink colors suggest he did not sign all the signatures at the same time but almost certainly within a 10 to 12 month period. The top part is toned with rubbing from a fold bisecting the second signature. This is a unique example of Shaw signing the same item many times.
