Thomas Wentworth Higginson - Unitarian Minister and abolitionist. Signed portion of a lined paper “Yours truly Thomas Wentworth Higginson”, measuring about 4 x 3.25. Higginson was one of the “secret six” funders of John Brown’s raid on Harper’s Ferry. During the ware he was a Captain in the 51st Mass. Volunteers and then as Col. of the First South Carolina Volunteers, the first authorized Clack Regiment comprised of freed slaves.
